I want to start by thanking the rank-and-file men and women of this department for their outstanding response to the “Occupy” demonstrations that impacted our city on Friday, January 13, 2012. It was an all-day ordeal, lasting from the very early morning until the late hours of the night.
I hope and trust that all our readers had a safe and happy holidays and the process of settling into the New Year will not be daunting.

I hope every one of you had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with friends and loved ones.
I know that many members of our department were involved in several holiday functions around the city this Thanksgiving. One event that has become a favorite tradition is the cooking of a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings for the wonderful people, staff, and guests of UCSF Family House at 50 Irving Street.
First Fijian police Officer Retires…
Officer Mukesh "Mike" Chandra, known by his friend and peers as Fiji Mike and Mike the Cop is presumably the first Fiji born Police Officer in the United States, he retires from the San Francisco Police Department after 32 years of honorable service.

I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to the recently promoted members of our department to the ranks of Lieutenant and Sergeant effective Saturday, October 1, 2011. It is an outstanding achievement not only for our department but also certainly for the members of our association.

Sandy Tuvera addresses California lawmakers…
On Thursday, August 25, 2011, Sandy Tuvera, mother of slain San Francisco Police Officer Bryan Tuvera, traveled to our state capitol in Sacramento to address a Senate Panel Forum on Conservation Camps in relation to Assembly Bill 109 and the impact prisoners will have on this program.
