By Gary Delagnes, President
San Francisco Police Officers Association
The most important Retirement Board election in years is our first major political effort of 2012. The Board of Directors of the San Francisco Police Officers Association has endorsed Deborah Landis for the crucial position of Retirement Board Trustee.
SFPD Captain Al Casciato is currently the sole police officer on the Retirement Board. Al has been an elected trustee on the board for many years, and his service is too lengthy to highlight here. But, Al is retiring in July, and we stand to lose his valuable experience, insight, fiscal acumen, and vote.
To remedy that, the POA Board voted to endorse Deborah Landis because of her strong fiscal background, and her current affiliation with the SFPD as Chief Financial Officer. She is also strongly endorsed by Al Casciato and Firefighter Joe Driscoll, the only other Public Safety employee currently serving on the Retirement Board.
Ballots will be mailed out in late December. This election is too important to ignore. Join me, the Board of Directors of the SFPOA, and nearly every labor organization in the city and cast your vote for Deborah Landis for Trustee of the City and County Retirement System. She has the skills, background, and fiscal understanding to protect and grow our retirement fund.
