Wanted parolee nabbed in Mission Street parking lot

January 10, 2011

SANTA CRUZ -- Police on Friday tracked down an armed parolee and reported gang member wanted on drug charges, a few days after serving a search warrant at his Escalona Drive home and arresting nine people.

Police got a tip that Christopher Page, 32, might be with his girlfriend in a black Acura Integra, and they spotted the car in the parking lot of a store on Mission Street, Lt. Bernie Escalante said.

Investigators set up a surveillance about 5:30 p.m. and Page and his girlfriend walked out about an hour later, Escalante said.

"They boxed the car in and took him into custody," he said. "It was good follow-up by parole officers and our Street Crimes Unit. The cooperation between law enforcement and the community to hold these people accountable is extremely helpful for us."
