Bayview Station’s Aaron and Wendy Cowhig proudly announce the birth of their second son, Ryan Benjamin Cowhig 7 lbs 6 oz 19 ½ inches long born Monday August 22, 2011 at 0242 hours at Kaiser San Francisco. Big brother Conner, 18 months, is thrilled with his new brother as are Grandparents retired Mike and Debbie Cowhig…Welcoming their third son on September 7, 2011, 0208 hours at Kaiser San Francisco were Mission Station’s Glen and Jenelle Wilson. Luke Andrew Wilson 5 lbs 11 oz 19 inches long enthusiastically welcomed by brothers Ryan (4) and Jake (2). …October 17:

On Monday October 17 the Guardians of the City will conduct a ceremony commemorating the service of the public safety personnel and NERT volunteers who responded served during the period of the Loma Prieta Earthquake Oct 17, 1989. The Ceremony will be held at the Guardians Fire Museum Building located at Pine and Presidio. Open house will start at 1600 hours with a short presentation and memorial at 5:05 hours. Reception will follow in the lobby of the Fire Credit Union located next door.

Thank You to the San Francisco Opera for hosting a special matinee for first responders and military veterans on September 24. The production Heart of a Soldier chronicles the life of Rick Rescorla who died on 9/11 at the World Trade Center when after leading a number of persons out of the building he returned to check for survivors and never returned. If you get a chance to see this Opera please do so…

On September 27 the Latino Peace Officer’s Association presented $7000 dollars in scholarships ranging from $750 to $1000. LPOA President Hector Basurto (property) and Scholarship Chair Maria Oropeza (Chief’s Office) note that books alone for a school year now exceed $500. Thanks to all who participated and donated throughout the year…

…Italian Heritage Parade:

The parade will take place Sunday October 9, 2011 starting in Fisherman’s Warf and ending in North Beach. Recent Retiree John Colla has a visiting group of Italian Law Enforcement Officers who will be marching with members of the Columbia Association and friends and family.
