As we begin 2026, I want to extend my sincere wishes for a happy, healthy, and safe NewYear to each and every member of the San Francisco Police Department. This coming year represents an exciting chapter for SFPD. The progress we are seeing across our city is the direct result of the hard work, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated daily by the women and men of this department. Together, you have helped revive San Francisco and continue to make meaningful strides in reducing crime and restoring public confidence.
Your efforts do not go unnoticed. I hear it consistently when speaking with residents, tourists, business leaders, and city employees. People recognize the commitment and sacrifices you make to keep our communities safe. They see the difference you are making.
Those sacrifices are real and significant. Having walked in your shoes for many years, I understand how demanding and isolating this profession can be. Each call brings uncertainty, frustration, and at times danger. Confronting unruly individuals or those intent on causing harm is never easy. Yet, time and again, you respond with professionalism, restraint, and compassion.
In a world where human kindness can often feel absent, it remains strong within the SFPD. It is evident in police reports, in public discourse, and in the countless conversations I have with members of our community who are grateful for your service. Your willingness to go the extra step for someone in need defines who you are as professionals and as people.
As we move forward, please know that my commitment to you remains unwavering. I will continue to work tirelessly on labor and technology issues to ensure you have the tools, resources, and support necessary to perform this difficult job. I will continue to advocate for and protect each of you to the best of my ability. I am prepared to put in the long hours required because I do not want to let any of you down.
Thank you for your dedication and hard work throughout 2025. May 2026 bring continued progress, safety, and blessings to you and your families.
With gratitude,
Louis Wong,
President SFPOA
