To our police/fire dispatchers: THANK YOU.
Thank you for being the calm voice on the other end of the radio, for listening carefully when every second matters, and for making sure our officers get the help and information they need.
You may not always be seen by the public, but your dedication, professionalism, and compassion are felt every single day. You are an essential part of the law enforcement family and a lifeline for both our officers and our community.
Thank you for answering the call, for watching over those who serve, and for always being there. We appreciate you more than words can say.
I personally understand and appreciate what you do for our cops out on the streets. I have sat in the dispatch center and listened to M. Gaviola take calls, calm people down, and de-escalate situations that may not even require a police response. I have seen firsthand the patience and professionalism that this job requires.
You are often the first person to take the brunt of someone’s anger, frustration, fear, or complaint. Callers may take those emotions out on you, yet you are still expected to remain calm, professional, and focused on getting them the help they need.
We also recognize the toll that this constant stress can take on your mental and physical health. The difficult calls do not simply disappear when the phone is hung up or the radio goes quiet. You carry responsibilities that most people will never fully see or understand.
The POA will continue to recognize and acknowledge the incredible work that you do. (See page 9). As part of that commitment, we will be honoring a Dispatcher of the Month with a plaque as a way of showing our appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and service you provide every day.
You are not just a voice on the radio.
You are part of our team.
You are there for our officers when
they need you most.
And we are grateful for you.
