Within the past 5 months two major terrorist attacks, planned in San Francisco, have been thwarted by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force without cooperation or participation from the SFPD. It is astounding that our department is the only major law enforcement agency in this country that prohibits our investigators from receiving vital up to date information that can save lives in our city. I gave an interview yesterday regarding this important safety issue and the POA’s Public Service Announcement for January addresses the same issue.
The grandstanding by elected and appointed officials must stop. Public safety must prevail over politics. They have the authority to provide the safety we deserve. The question is—Do they have the will to make it happen?
