The Time For Tasers is Now

The time for Tasers is now. Since SFPD officers have the fewest less lethal options available to us, compared to most agencies in our country, we may be forced into the use of lethal force. We do not want that. The Police Commission voted to approve Tasers in concept last Friday, which we applaud, but no concrete policy is in place.

Now Commissioner DeJesus is classifying officers as being lazy for using less lethal options such as Tasers. Her comments were offensive and completely lacked any foundation in fact.

If the Police Commission fails to bring forward a reasonable working Taser policy the POA is prepared to send it to the the voters of San Francisco and let them decide. The public wants a well equipped police department and they want us to be able to protect them and save lives.
