The American Red Cross is honoring  two San Francisco Police Officers who were nominated for and will be honored in their respective category for their actions, by the American Red Cross at the Annual Heroes Awards Breakfast.  The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter's Annual San Francisco County Heroes Breakfast will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, 450 Powell St., San Francisco, from 0800-1000 hrs.  The tickets are $50.00, yes this is also a fundraiser event.

San Francisco Police Officers Matthew Cloud and Stephen Gritsch will receive the Life Saving Award.  Upon responding to a request for a welfare check at Third St. and McKinnon Ave., they found a man holding a bloody baby wrapped in a sweatshirt.  The baby was blue and not breathing.  Officer Gritsch took the baby and immediately began CPR while Officer Cloud drove the patrol car to the hospital. Due to their actions the child was revived and survived.  Congratulations on a Job Well Done!

The American Red Cross will also recognize the following San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs:

Sr. Deputy Anna Payne will be recognized for the Act of Kindness Award.  For over 30 years Sr. Deputy Payne has raised funds, purchased toys, collected donated toys from our department and mobilized deputies to wrap and then present the gifts to children at UCSF Medical Hospital and a Developmental School in the Tenderloin.  Congratulations Sr. Deputy Payne!  Thank You for your dedication.

Deputies Supremie Wysinger and Matthew Brule will be honored with the Public Safety Award for their quick action in a dangerous situation.  When notified of a disturbance across the street from the PUC Building, Deputy Brule went to investigate.  The disturbance turned out to be a domestic quarrel which turned physical.  Deputy Brule tried to stop and detain the two subjects when the man ran passed Deputy Brule and began hitting the woman in the face.  When Deputy Brule pulled the man off the woman, the man turned on Deputy Brule.  Deputy Wysinger came to assist and together they were able to subdue and handcuff the man and provide first aid for the woman who went to SFGH.    Congratulations on a job Well Done!

Please come out and support our co-workers.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.redcrossbayarea.org/heroes.
